DAY 4: OCTOBER 16, 2019: A LAY DAY IN GETTYSBURG REMINISCING ABOUT A YEAR AGO

At breakfast, we reminisced about the past year. On October 1, 2018, we sold TOMFOOLERY, the 36 foot trawler. A sad day saying goodbye to our means of traveling the ICW from New England to the Florida Keys. All was not quiet or without ’hecticness’ for long. On October 3, 2018, only a few days later, we flew to Dover, Florida, Tampa, to meet with Unique Monique from General RV to purchase this 38U Holiday Rambler Navigator Coach RV. All I could say was, ´Are we nuts?“ And our RVing journey began aboard TOMFOOLERY, the coach.
(Notice, after all, it is a Navigator–I won’t give up my anchor motif clothes, etc. Just a different kind of cruising)

TOMFOOLERY MOVED FROM ONE CRUISER TO ANOTHER

We quickly discovered that every toy has its quirks and even new toys have their idiosyncrosies and need repairs even before they break. We reserved a site at Tampa East RV Resort, 2 Miles from the showroom where repairs would be made. We did let the staff know that anyway they could help us would be appreciated. We know boats not coaches so if they had any suggestions, we wouldn’t be offended.  Fortunately for us, our RV ing friends, Carolyn and Rick came to the rescue reserving the site next to us. We spent 3 wonderful days learning a lot from them including how to set up our Jeep to flat tow and how to change it back to driving mode.
With them we spent a great day exploring Busch Gardens, dining out,  and planning future trips.

After saying our goodbyes, Tom and I graduated from Coach Driving School at Lazy Days RV. Now it’s  official!!

We are truly happy we did our touring yesterday.

THIS IS WHAT THE WEATHER AROUND US LOOKS LIKE,,,,

It’s a great day to catch up on paperwork and blogs.
Before continuing our coach journey, we flew home to register it at home and work out other details. Mid November, 2018, we returned to Tampa with the Jeep packed with nearly everything that was on the boat (minus life jackets except my Paddleboard one).
We arrived in time to have the Airforce one unit put on the Jeep and the Blue Ox on the Rv to prepare to make it flat tow.
Late afternoon , November 28, 2018 we picked up the supposedly completed car and headed to Tampa East to button up the Coach and drive the Jeep to Marathon where we spent a wonderful Thanksgiving with Geri and Bill.  On the way the front of the Jeep began to smoke. We frantically called General RV. They had not fully prepared the Jeep for driving mode. Ugh. They talked us through it and we were once again on our way. We now double and trip check. I love driving the Jeep.

GERI walked and I ran the Turkey Trot 5K on Duck Key. Always fun!! We celebrated a delicious grilled turkey made by Chef Bill. December 2, 2018, we moved the coach from Tampa to Port St. Lucy RV Resort where she would stay until we returned from RI, the day after Christmas. This resort was a great place to run outside and visit our RI friends and aneasy ride to the airport.

I’d like to continue this post but feel I must divide it into parts due to the photos and crazy Blog set up. So, I’ll publish this and painstakingly continue.
