DAY 7: OCTOBER 19, 2019: LEAVING SAVANNAH OAKS RV RESORT FOR FLAMINGO LAKE RV RESORT IN JACKSONVILLE

This morning we woke up to pouring rain and wind. We are heading to Flamingo Lake RV Resort as Tropical Storm Nester moves North and East from the Gulf of Mexico to and through the panhandle of Florida. It’s Saturday so the traffic is less and I’m sure the storm is keeping some people snuggled at home. Also, because of the heavy rain and wind, there are no work crews on the highway.
We departed the campground at 8:45 am. We are due to arrive in Jacksonville at 10:38 am, hopefully before the weather gets worth. Nester is due to make landfall at Noon today.

In the Photo Note the rain and minimal amount of traffic.
We are passing through many of the areas we passed on the ICW. We had hoped to visit our friends at isle of Hope but we never unhitched the Jeep due to the predicted storm and our early departure. All we had to do was disconnect the power and leave like on the boat, weigh anchor and go. We passed through Golden Isle, St. Simons Island where we anchored often and stayed at the marina with RHYTHM, Cath and Mike.  Our memories are precious and many!

A FAVORITE ICW STOP

We arrived at Flamingo Lake RV Resort (FLRVR) at 11:05 am and checked in. We traveled 120 miles and used 13.3 gallons of Diesel fuel. Tom has to return to Savannah Rv Park tomorrow because he forgot our surge protector in the pedestal. I wish I could say this was the first time. Ugh. At least we aren’t that far away.
This resort is beautifully manicured with flowers and trees. The sites are on tar pads. The fitness center is equipped and the activities many. St. Patrick´s Church is 5 Miles away. There are many attractions nearby. John and Pam live in Jacksonville so we hope to connect with them at least one of the 8 days we are here. In between getting the slide fixed and the satellite reinstalled, we should be able to do something.

The rain came and went during the day. I walked around this very large RV resort. One side has the lake so the name: Flamingo Lake.
There is a restaurant on site and a fitness center. The rec hall hosts movies.
THE RESORT MAP: WE ARE NEAR THE POOL AND PLAYGROUND

What a great place for kids! If we had the kids with us, they would have a blast. We can see everything right from our campsite. Activities go on each day all day.

After checking the facilities, I worked on crafting napkin rings with shells. Quite fun. Today I caught up on emails with Karl and Fran. Texting with the family and phone calls home reconnected us.  We face timed with Todd and the kids. They are growing so fast.

We found a beautiful church, St. Patrick’s, and went to 5:00 mass. Dinner was spare ribs and asparagus. Time to start taking more photos!
