DAY 5 :OCTOBER 17, 2019 DEPARTED GETTYSBURG FOR FORT CHISWELL, VA

I woke up this morning at 5:50 am to workout. It was cold. I was quick. We had breakfast and prepared for a 7:15am departure. Well, we can plan.  Ugh! As we began to bring in the portside slide, the molding was being pushed. Somehow during the night, the slide shifted just about a half inch but just enough to throw the slide off. We managed to get it in and were on our way by 8:32. The wind speed, according to the Weather Channel is 20=30 mph. We can feel it on the sides of the coach. We wonder if the wind last night threw off the track of the slide. It was always so close.
ON OUR WAY TO ROUTE 81
I called General RV to report the damage. We were connected to General in Jacksonville, where we are headed. We also have Coach=Net which will be our next call. For now, however, we are waiting for a return call from General Jacksonville. Waiting is hard. We are not happy. We take such good care of this rig. This can’t happen on a boat.

The  scenery along this route is beautiful. The traffic is mostly Trailer Trucks , 18 wheelers, and RVs. I remember the time we drove with JUDY, Michael, and Cc to visit TODD in South Carolina. We saw a lot of this bumper to bumper. At least we are moving forward (well and side to side due to the wind). If we were to leave on a boat, we would not!

DISTANT MOUNTAINS

ROLLING HILLS
 Beautiful Countryside

I was on and off the phone with Coach–net, our coverage for repairs on the Coach. Jose worked with me to find a place to repair the slide. The facility is in Jacksonville. We canceled our reservation in Fort Chiswell so we may get closer to Jacksonville where we plan to be for a week anyway.  Don’t know where we plan to stop tonight. It will be another adventure. What happened to the Crisis Free Days? CFDˋs !

RAMSAY MOUNTAIN TO OUR NORTH

        THE HILLS AROUND US

A SHEEP FARM/ WE COULD SEE WOOL AROND THE FENCE

WAGYU, A CATTLE BREED WE MET TODAY

WAGYU, is the name of the Japanese Black Cattle Tajima strain. As we walked we saw this guy. I took a photo because he was so close. Then, I saw a story on the 5:00 news that featured these cattle. They are known for their rich marbled beef slices. The story said: The beef will melt in your mouth, be magic on your tongue. It is sometimes shipped as Kobe beef. There , you have it!
After seeing this guy and looking him in the eyes, I don’t think I’ll ever eat that brand of beef.
We never know what we will see or meet on these trips.

This posted on the property : LIFE IS A JOURNEY FILLED WITH UNEXPECTED MIRACLES

They need to add more to this: OR UNEXPECTED CRISES... ugh!

Just a bit of local trivia from the town we are in: Max Meadows, Virginia. James Archer is a former Major League Baseball Player for the Kansas City Athletics . Unusual because he threw left handed and batted right.

I wondered about the unusual name of this tow: Max Meadows. In 1745, COL. John Buchanan was chief surveyor for the Loyal‘s Company of Virginia . As he traveled down the Wilderness Trail to survey the lands in the name of the Land Company, he stopped at William Mack‘s home at today‘s Max Meadows.

Brrr..... the Heat is on. The outdoor temperature is supposed to drop below 40 degrees in this valley tonight.
I won’t complain about the heat once in the Keys.

We arrived at 3:30 pm and traveled 320.1 miles today. Tomorrow, we head to New Green Acres RV Park in Walterboro, SC.
