DAY 48: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2021: NEW LIITLE SANTOS BABY GIRL TO BE BORN TODAY

At 8:30 we prepared to leave Daytona. Chris grilled blueberry muffins. I made star fruit smoothies, cut up fruit and put out Starfruit jam. Then, we left. I kept looking at the clock knowing Emily was due to deliver around 9:30. 10:15 Todd texted with the great news: a healthy 6 lb 4 oz baby girl and everyone is doing great. The photos show that! Leo and Stella are with Papa John and Grandma Jacque. So happy Todd could be there. Covid has messed up so many beautiful moments!

We shared the great news with family and friends as we traveled back to Long Key, Outdoor Resorts. So exciting! Good news is welcomed more than ever these days. 🤗

We easily found our way out of Daytona International Speedway. It was an experience we will never duplicate. We were happy to friends to share it with. And , we were able to dry camp for 4 days without issue. Thank you Gen set and big tanks!

Last night after I posted, we returned to the track for the finish after the rain delay. On the last half of the last lap,
lap 199.5, A big fiery crash occurred when one team mate 2nd place Brad Kezlowski tried to make a go of it and pass first place Joey Legano! All hell broke lose.
My photos;

And there you have it! Mc Dowell long time racer, first time Daytona 500 winner pulled out the the malaise to enter the winner's circle.
Then , we waited until all the drivers were safely out of their cars. Kyle Busch was the last to emerge. The crowd went crazy. All drivers were safe and Mc Dowell had won.Of course , there were many disappointments. Those in the lead had.been there for our 50+ laps so their fans weren't happy. ((Neither was Team Penske who lost two cars and first and second place. Brad K said, though, he was sorry for the crash but not for his choice to move. It is what drivers do to win.

We are waiting for more baby photos from 🦬! Hard to wait. We sent out texts to our grandkids  and Michelle, Chan, and families.

I found some articles about the race and picked out so e photos.

AND THE WINNER
My favorite parts for the winner ard pulling into the start/finish line wall, , revving and braking to create smoke and 360 degree burnouts, then climbing out, taking the checkered flag from the official, and riding the victory lap with the flag waving out the window.

Todd called and we had a Facetime with him, Emily, and Bianca Eva. So cute. We spoke a long time. Everyone looked so relaxed. Em said she is nursing well. She will be a happy baby with a full belly.

FROM FACE TIME

RIGHT BEFORE BED

Chan sent this great photo of Joseph in lots of Texas snow. Todd said that same system is on its way to Buffalo. Enjoy it, Joseph. My brother and Chan said there are forced blackouts to save power. So is that what happens now? people are cold?
I had plenty of time to text family and friends with good news. Everyone needs some!

We returned to Long Key at 5:00 and spent the next 2 hours cleaning the floors and getting rid of dust, grass, and mud pieces. We finally were settled in.
Bedtime was early.  6:00 am Class with 426.

It has been a happy day. Well,  into the world, Bianca Eva Santos.
6 of our grandchildren have a new cousin and 2 have a new sibling! Such good news!
