We traveled through Georgia and South Carolina. So many familiarbplaces. The Santee River, the Peedee River, the town of Santee, the smell of the swamp, the city of Savannah, the swamp lands to our east along 95 and many more areas reminded us of our travels on Tomfoolery up and down the ICW. Those things I miss. I do not miss the bridges that needed opening or the shallow waters we had to wait to rise when the tide changed. One particular area is the Little Mud River in Georgia. Another iffy area was the low water around Jekyll Island where the silt continues to fill in where the waters have been dredged. Tom reminded me of the place called Hells Gate which continues to fill in making passage more and more nerve wracking. Otherwise, I do miss the boat.
What we had today was traffic but nothing we could not handle by just being patient.
For tonight, we spent the night at the home of friends Norm and Kath who live in Leland, NC. They made a delicious dinner of chicken chow mein. We sat, talked, and caught up on years of experiences. They are great hosts. We are so happy we were able to stay with them.
This beautiful saying was on their wall:
Very beautiful!
