I was up at 6:30 to run. It was a cool refreshing run. I wore long running pants for the first time ever here. In 12 days I am running in the Key West 5K. Unlike past years, the starts are staggered. No waiting for a starting gun. As soon as I arrive, I can begin running. My time is 7 am. To avoid crowds, our T Shirts and medals will be sent. At leadt, the fund raiser can still be held safely. I feel ready after running daily. At home, in the cold, we rode bikes and worked out but running outside was minimal.
SYLVIA AND KEN ON THEIR ROOFTOP TAKEN FROM OUR BIKE RIDE LAST NIGHT
At 9 am, I rode my bike to the basketball court where Sylvia taught a great Zumba class. During class she told us about the CDC Marathon and vaccine. She called repeatedly this morning until she spoke to a person who gave her an appointment for this morning after class. So, after class I walked my bike home and called the number over snd over. At first I got, The Mailbox Is Full And Cannot Accept Messages. As I arrived at the RV, bingo, a person. She gave us an appointment for 1:45 pm today. No fuss, no muss, no payment, no insurance cards , nothing except show up.
I called Joan and Geri to let them know. They did what we did and got appointments following ours. Be ause of the swiftness we didnt even meet up with them . I am still Amazed.
Knowing how things work in the Keys, I was skeptical. Low and behold, we arrived early. I went to check in. The nurse gave me a paper for us to fill out. She said, fill it out, don't wait, bring it right back. We did. The doctor I had was so kind and explained everything. He gave me the vaccine and a card eith an appointment for February 3., 21 days from now. After our 15 minute observation period to be sure we did not have an anaphylactic reaction to it. We were on our way home even before the time of our actual appointment. Things never happen like that in the Keys. We thanked everyone involved for the smoothies flawless operation they have set up.
Yesterday, Geri sent me an email with a CDC Marathon Dept of Health telephone number to call to make an appointment for the vaccine for Covid 19. I called many times but received a recording that the mailbox was full. I was finally able to leave a name and number this morning. But, then was able to get vaccinated...All good!We had time before the appointment so we stopped at Walgreens, the hardware store, and Winn Dixie. We did everything we had to do then took a short ride. We arrived early at the vaccine site and the rest is history. We are so happy. 😊
We texted our kids to let them know. I feel so much better now about flying home in February. I know we still have to be careful, but this is a start. By 8 pm we were both still fine, tenderness at the injection site and no temp. More to follow tomorrow.
On the way home we stopped at Dollar Tree. I picked up more supplies for crafts and Valentines Cards since that day will be here before we know it.
Tom and I stopped at the Post Office, then drove to Annie 's Beach in Tavernier. What a find!!! It may be my new favorite 😻 place! it is a pretty beach with a board walk and areas of small private beach areas and picnic benches. It is all brand new. These photos don't fo it justice but here are photos. There is a rest room and good sized parking areas.
THE PICNIC TABLE
THE PRIVATE BEACH FOR THAT TABLE
SHALLOW AND PROTECTED
We returned to Outdoor Resorts and connected by text to Geri and Joan. We all feel fine so far.
Dinner was Chipotle Boneless Pork Chops with mushrooms and Chipotle salad.
After dinner we read to Leo and Stella, THE WELL MANNERED BALLOON.
THIS IS ONE OF THEIR FAVORITES SO I BROUGHT IT WITH US
We watched Shashank Redemption. It happened to be on and there was 😟 little else to watch.
Sad day in our country with what went on in DC. Too much bad history since the day Trump was elected. Now the unrest is worse. Bad things on both sides but now he has to give up and move on. He ruined the actual good things he did do like push and push to get a vaccine created in record time. With Bad and irresponsible behavior, nothing good will be remembered.
God Bless America.
