DAY 24: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2019: PREPARING FOR OUR PANAMA CANAL CRUISE

Up at 6:30 to run before the sun poked through the clouds. It was 85 degrees before 8:30 am. It was a smooth run but oh so hot! A quick shower and off to the post office to drop off mail. This resort does not have outgoing mail. At least the post office is only 5 minutes away. The beach is about a minute away. I may have to walk there today. We have not checked that out
Yet.

We worked on parking for our trip tomorrow. That worked out well. We see Rick and Carolyn tomorrow. All set. We checked on laundry and internet on the ship. All good. I know I’m forgetting something.

I sit here writing and thinking how great it is to be Connected  to Linda. If we were still teaching, there are so many historical places we could teach 3rd graders about. But, I’m happy we are both retired!

I texted with GERI. Yeah, our package arrived at her house. I also texted with Deb. Her cruise starts the day we return. Someday we will be on the same one.

GREAT MEMORIES...

GERI AND I WILL BE DOING THIS RACE AGAIN: SIGNING UP TODAY
THANKSGIVING TURKEY TROT: DUCK KEY
GERI has also registered so we are legit! Not a big race, but beautiful scenery and friendly people.

I was told the resort‘s ocean beach was right across the street, so I took my access key and walked across the street, found a path and walked to the beach.

BEAUTIFUL UNOBSTRUCTED OCEAN VIEW

I returned to the office and told Gail I loved that beach. Turns out, I was at a private house that had an open gate, and ocean access. Lol! I crossed the street again and found the correct beach near the lot where all the boat trailers are stored.

SAME VIEW JUST OVER 100 YARDS AWAY BUT WITH PICNIC TABLES AND GAS GRILLS AVAILABLE FOR THE RESORT GUESTS
Well, the other house surely looked like the right place.  The house was under renovation with the windows with stickers still on them

OUR ENTRANCE BEGINS HERE AT THE SECURITY GATE

THIS IS THE BEACH ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE RESORT
This one is okay, but I think launching the Paddleboard will be hard. The only way in is down 2 very seaweed covered, I’m sure, slippery steps. There are lots of rocks. The next beach I have to check out is one on the north side.

WE LOVE THIS FLAG DEDICATED TO THE SAFETY OF POLICE OFFICERS

As I walked the beach, I spoke to Carol and Gerry. Hearing their voices was very special. They sound great; healing is going on. I would not have been happy going on this cruise without checking in.  At Christmas, our whole Byc crew will be together again. So much to look forward to.

At 5:00, my plan is to go into Marathon to buy the socks told me he needs. The, I will walk with GERI, Bandit, and all before I return to finish packing.
Always a lot to do before going away, but worth it.

GERI and I took a walk with Bandit and Peter. It was a beautiful night!
A glass of wine later and we made our Thanksgiving Plans as well as a Trip to a few farmer‘s markets.
A great way to end the day.

Morgan texted today. She wants to interview Grandpa for her English class ! What a great thing for them to do together.
