DAY 81: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 2020: FLORIDA HERE WE COME

At 4:30 we we were awake, but I wasn’t heading to the gym. The car was packed after our lunch with the girls and mom and dad, and we used Tom‘s car to go out last night.

By 5:00, we were on the road, first to Cumberland Farms for a coffee then to 95 to begin our trip south. Today was a long day of driving, but we traveled all the way to Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Many coffees and pit stops, and we arrived at Best Western for a good nights sleep around 5 pm.

Along the way, there were many phone calls, texts, and emails in both directions wishing happy new year. The most important thing we can wish each other is good health for 2020. I connected with my sisters and ˋ
ˋmy sisterś´, my brother, parents, and friends. Texts with Todd, Michelle, and Chan. Everyone is doing well. Already, I miss everyone we left in RI. I enjoy this trip, but miss doing things at home.

Rick and CAROLYN always send funny cartoons. Although funny, they make us think! Lol. JEFF and Carol Sent an update of their time in Florida. Fran and Norm are doing well. We asked them to ski some for us!!

We heard from KEVIN and Shirley and Cath and Jared. Everyone is heading back to Florida.Time for the adult
  Winter Camp, LOL!!
We heard from Linda, who is healing. We are waiting to hear from MM. I’m sure I’m forgetting someone. It’s been an incredible day.

Emails from Rene and the Mellmans made my day. It’s been a while since we had a chance to chat. We will change that soon. Steve and Cookie texted about meeting for breakfast since they are at North Farm. Ugh, we left. Michele texted about breakfast, that will have to wait.

MY PLAN FOR THE NEW YEAR

WE PASSED SO MANY PLACES WE PASSED BY BOAT

DELAWARE RIVER

DELAWARE MEMORIAL BRIDGE

JOAN AND I LAUGH AT THIS: THEY ARE IN REST ROOMS ON THE HIGHWAY:
OUR BIG QUESTION IS ALWAYS: WHY????

When we passed Harve De Grace, so many memories flowed. When we visited there in the sailboat TOMFOOLERY, we stayed at a boatyard/ marina. I remember the current getting in on the Face dock. Getting in the slip was tricky but we did it. Why is it I remember strange little things? In that town there were many walking tours that I did— waterfront tours and historical tours. There were also many antique shops. In one I bought a book I had looked for for a long time: OOBLECK by Dr Seuss. It‘s a book that leads to the making of Oobleck — a substance than can be a liquid or solid. It was a great third grade project I’ve done with my grandkids many, many times. It was quite a find since it’s out of print. I used to have to borrow it from the library.
LEO and Stella should be almost old enough to make the Oobleck after listening to the story.
But, I digress— it happens.

After settling into the hotel, we went to a TEXAS Roadhouse for dinner. The ribs were good. The steak was just okay. The hotel had a great fitness center but,  for the first time, I didn’t use it. Sleep was more necessary today.

Hope everyone had a great New Years Day. BYC members had a potluck to celebrate the day. Sorry we had to miss it, but needed to get going. By the time we return, BYC will be rebuilt .
