DAY82: THURSDAY, JANUARY 2, 2020: CONTINUING SOUTH

We slept until 6 am then went to breakfast. We were on the road by 7:30.
It always amazes me how we are seeing the same places we see on the waterways, but we get to them so  much faster. 8 hours on the water equals one by car. Passing by Cape Fear, we talked about heading South to visit Hank at SOUTHPORT Marina and on to Myrtle Beach and our experiences along the waterway and the Problem inlets that cause silting and low water. In the opposite direction, we pass Snow‘s Cut where we were in the channel between the red and green and still ran aground in one low spot. SeaTow was our friend! Each area has its own set of memories.

We passed the Pee DEE River, Cumberland and JEKYLL Islands, Golden Isle, and Beaufort (Bufort, SC). The last time we went through Beaufort we had very thick fog. We slowly moved forward through the banks and made our way to a narrow passage where the fog cleared. We had 5 boats following us. Lol. They trusted us to lead the way and thanked us. Whew. We didn’t even know they were there.

Joan called to say hello. We said we should be arriving tomorrow. She was surprised at our progress. Gail emailed when I sent her a funny golf cartoon.JUDY called and the other girls texted about walking plans for tomorrow — our Friday morning walk! Of course, I won’t be there. GERI called to change our theater date. She has a conflict.

Briana sent a beautiful photo of Baby Patrick. He is simply adorable. Babies grow to fast. I shared a LEO video with her.

We texted with Rick. His cartoons are so funny! FB Texts from Lucia were appreciated. We also received her Christmas card. Wish they all lived closer.

WE STOPPED AT KENLY STOP: AN INCREDIBLE STORE WITH 18 WHEELERS WITHIN ITS WALLS

GOING THROUGH JACKSONVILLE, FL

PASSING THROUGH JACKSONVILLE OVER THE ST JOHNS RIVER

Palm Coast was our goal. We loved this area when we were here 2 years ago on TOMFOOLERY. The area was beautiful but it was chilly every morning 40s and 50s. Believe me, it was worth it.
We are spending the night at the Days Inn in Palm Coast.

The hotel here is fine, the fitness center was filthy. No running today. Dinner at Mulligans was good. We thought about going to our favorite place here either Metro Diner or the European Village but we knew we would eat way to much. It’s only January 2nd. So far, we are watching carefully what we eat.

Time to sleep.
